Senior GP Partner
Dr Blackburn qualified from Newcatle-Upon-Tyne Medical School in 1994 and joined the Practice in 2001. He is the practice lead for clinical governance, child and adult safeguarding and is the senior information (data) risk officer. He has a clinical interest in minor surgery including excision of skin lesions, steroid joint injections for knee and shoulder arthritis and provides a vasectomy service for North Derbyshire.

Dr Gor graduated from Manchester Medical School in 2001. She qualified as a GP in 2008 and joined the practice in 2014. Dr Gor works in all areas of general practice and specialises in medical education and Training GPs. She is also interested in women’s health, including coils and contraceptive implants.

Dr Karimi is a partner with interests in women’s health. She is our palliative care and cancer lead; and is involved in medical student teaching.

Dr Keogh joined the practice as a Salaried GP in August 2016. His main interests are in teaching medical students and trainee GPs. Outside of work Dr Keogh is a Sub Aqua Diving Instructor.

Dr Jafri qualified in Medicine from Imperial College London in 1999. She qualified as a GP in 2008, having previously gained experience in general and ENT surgery. She is interested in all areas of general practice and specialises in learning disabilities, neurodiversity, health inequalities and diabetes.

Dr Shotton has been a qualified General Medical Practitioner since 2021, with an interest in medical teaching and mental health. She also works for the University of Manchester.

Dr Allen graduated from Sheffield Medical School in 1999 and went on to qualify as a GP in 2005. She works in all areas of general practice but with a special interest in women’s health and menopause.

Dr Linscott graduated from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2011, and joined our practice as a Salaried GP in June 2022. She has an interest in medical education and quality improvement.

Dr Dawoud is a GP registrar who joined the practice in February 2025. She graduated in 2013, and holds the MRCGP qualification. She enjoys the continuity of care that general practice offers.

If you wish to know who your named GP is, please contact our reception team who will be happy to help. Having a named GP does not limit you to booking appointments with them; you are welcome to book with any GP of your choice.

Tina has 25 years of experience in nursing and specialises in palliative care, frailty, managing patients with complex needs. She leads on Care Home and housebound patients and dementia care. She won the Beacon of Hope Award in 2021 and she is a keen gardener and walker.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Fiona trained at Kings College hospital in London and specialised in Renal nursing before moving out into the community. She is experienced with acute and chronic illnesses, palliative care, and also sees patients with Diabetes. Fiona is qualified to see patients from age 3 months to 100 plus.
Besides clinical skills, she has also worked in the Medico-Legal sector as a clinical Expert Witness and as an Associate clinical fellow, teaching at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Jennie graduated from the University of Bath and qualified as a pharmacist in 2006. Jennie joined the practice in 2022. She has completed a clinical diploma and is qualified as a non medical prescriber.

Practice nurse
After qualifying as a Nurse in 2008 from GMIT in Co. Mayo Ireland, Elizabeth spent two years in A&E, followed by 12 years in Intensive Care. Since moving back to the UK in 2022 Elizabeth has moved to primary care. Since joining Sett Valley Medical Centre as a Practice Nurse Elizabeth has gained new skills in Adult & Child immunisations, Cervical screening, Long Term Condition reviews and also assists with minor operations.

Practice nurse
Diane qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1986 at Huddersfield School of Nursing. She worked on general and specialist surgical wards, at various hospital across Yorkshire, before becoming a Practice Nurse in 2007.She is experienced in the management of long-term conditions, including diabetes and respiratory disease. Her other skills are cervical screening, immunisations for adults and children – including travel vaccinations – wound care and injections.

Cheryl Joined the practice in 2023 after working for many years in the community. Cheryl has experience working with the elderly and adults with learning disabilities. Cheryl is able to provide phlebotomy, ECG’s, Diabetic checks, NHS health checks and more to our patients.

Receptionists
Receptionists are usually the first people you speak to when you contact the practice. They are here to help with your questions and guide you to the right help.
They book most appointments with our doctors and nurses. They also help with prescription requests, send messages to patients and staff, and do other important office tasks.
Their job can be very busy, so please be kind and patient. They may ask about your problem so they can make sure you get the right help from the right person.
Admin Team
Our admin team, including our secretaries, work hard behind the scenes.
They help with things like new patient registrations, hospital letters, and updating patient records. They also sort online access, referrals, and send letters to patients.
They organise appointments and reminders for long-term condition reviews, blood tests, vaccinations, and smear tests, as well as many other important tasks.
Training practice
As an accredited Training Practice we are committed to teaching both undergraduate medical students and fully qualified doctors who are still completing their GP training. Training is fully supervised and confidential.
Medical students
The Practice has links with Manchester University and medical students attend for placements at Sett Valley throughout the year. We would be grateful if you could help us, however, this is entirely at your discretion. Please inform us at the start if you would rather not have a student present during your consultation, your treatment will not be affected in any way.
GP registrars
GP Registrars are fully qualified doctors who are undertaking training to specialise as a GP. They see patients on their own but have a GP supervisor who will support them.
