Advanced Nurse Practitioners

  • Tina Wild – Msc Advanced Practice, Bsc Nursing, Independent Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Community Matron
    Tina has 25 years of experience in nursing and specialises in palliative care, frailty, managing patients with complex needs. Tina leads on Care Home and housebound patients and dementia care.
    She won Beacon of Hope Award in 2021 and she is a keen gardener and walker.
  • Katie Cobain – Nurse Practitioner
    Katie qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2005 from Manchester University. She started her career in A&E but decided primary care was where she wanted to be. Katie has worked within District Nursing teams in Tameside, Stockport and Australia. She spent 6 years in Perth, Western Australia delivering hospital care in people’s homes. She also worked as a Cancer nurse for the Cancer Council WA. On her return to the UK, Katie has been welcomed at Sett Valley and gained practice nursing skills such as baby immunisations, contraception and cervical screening. She has since undertaken further training in minor illness management and became a Non-Medical Prescriber. Katie has keen interests in women’s health and cancer care.
  • Jo Gladwin – Advanced Nurse Practitioner

    Jo qualified as a nurse in 2009 with DipHE Nursing Studies through University of Nottingham and started her career on an acute surgical ward specialising in bowel surgery. She moved into the community to work as a community nurse in 2012 and went on to develop her career in 2015 gaining BSc (Hons) Specialist Community Practitioner with Sheffield Hallam University to work as a District Nurse, managing her own caseload of patients and team of staff where she continued working until 2018.

    Jo changed my direction of career to work in Primary care in 2018 and started working for a GP surgery as a home visiting clinician and was given the opportunity study to become a nurse practitioner. She completed her MSc Advanced Clinical Practice – Primary Care in Dec 2021. During the time in Primary Care, she has also completed the Anticoagulation Management module with Warwick University in 2019 and since then have managed and led on the anticoagulation service. She has also completed Cervical screening in 2021.

    Jo has joined us after relocating to start a new life in the beautiful area of the Peak District where she can pursue her love of walking/hiking. She also enjoys travelling, spending time with family and friends, gardening, DIY and is hoping to take up paddle boarding/yoga this year.

  • Jenni Duckworth – Practice Pharmacist

Practice Nurses

  • Vicky Ashenden
    Vicky qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1998 at the University of Manchester. Initially she worked on the Emergency Admissions Unit at Stepping Hill Hospital, and then moved to Intensive Care, also at Stepping Hill. She completed BSc in Nursing Studies in 2001, and then moved down to Kent continuing to work on ICU’s in Canterbury, Ashford and Margate Hospitals. In 2010, Vicky changed direction having moved back up North to Hayfield and became a Practice Nurse at Sett Valley Medical Centre. She completed Immunisation and Cytology courses initially, and in 2013 also completed a Diploma in Diabetes Management, followed by an Insulin Conversion course, both affiliated to the Teeside University. In 2015  Vicky began running the Anticoagulation clinic after qualifying at Level 4 in Anticoagulation Management. Some of her other duties are assisting with minor surgery, treatment room duties and wound care. In her spare time, Vicky is a partner in a private Microsuction Earwax removal business.

  • Jan McMillan
    Jan performs ECGs, wound management, vaccinations, ear Irrigation and venepuncture. She also assists with minor operations.

GP Assistant

  • Anne Hynes
    Anne returned to Sett Valley in 2021 after a brief break, working at Christies. Anne is responsible for a number of clinical areas and holds a number of clinics such as wound care, lifestyle and wellbeing, pre-diabetes care, long covid, etc. She also assists with vasectomies and minor operations.
